Project Description

With a signature raw mandolin groove, bold fashion sense, charismatic yet soft-spoken confidence, and keen sensitivity to style and artistic innovation, twenty-six-year-old GRAMMY nominated mandolinist Tristan Scroggins is quickly becoming a highly influential voice of both music and community in the world of bluegrass. An old soul with the drive and curiosity of youth, Tristan is dedicated to learning the history of bluegrass while creating an open and inclusive space for the music moving forward. After a decade of full-time touring with Jeff Scroggins and Colorado, he now lives in Nashville, Tennessee where he has become a part of the thriving bluegrass and acoustic scene and can be found performing, researching, and writing about music. Tristan has been teaching for 10 years and has conducted workshops all over the U.S. as well as Canada, and Norway.

Intermediate/Advanced Mandolin for Bluegrass

Take your playing to the next level! Designed for intermediate to advanced students with a minimum of two or more years of playing experience. We will focus on one to two songs (depending on time) and explore concepts such as kick-offs and endings, ornamentation, phrasing, different ways to play backup, execution, and making melody more musical. Tab will be provided for almost everything covered but will be taught by ear first. It is not necessary to read tab to do well in class.
