Project Description
Mike Shiner is a soulful balladeer and songwriter with a background in rhythm, blues, soul and Americana. His musical interests and styles range from easy ballads to acoustic blues and Motown grooves. Mike has a degree in Music Production from Berklee College of Music with a Minor in Bass. Mike has played electric bass for many years and made the switch to upright seven years ago.
In 2013, with Larry Czarnecki and Sam McRae, Mike helped form the powerhouse Flagstaff band Mother Trio. The trio can be seen throughout Arizona and are regulars in Phoenix at the renowned Musical Instrument Museum and the Desert Botanical Garden. Winners of the Northern Arizona Blues competition, they showcased on Beal Street in Memphis, TN for the International Blues Competition. The trio has toured in Hungary and played all over the United States. Currently they have 2 cd’s and working on the 3rd.
Mike will be sharing his upright bass skills and his knowledge of performing and music production for both novice to advanced students interested in polishing those skills.
